I have degrees in Counselling from York St John and Hull Universities, where I trained in what is called the 'Integrative' model of therapy. The Integrative model of therapy provides me with a framework that enables me to integrate techniques from the many schools and models of therapy that are currently available, which allows me to select techniques and ways of working with clients that are suitable for each individual person rather than try and make the one model fit all.
In addition to my original Integrative training, I am now in the process of completing my advanced clinical training in Gestalt Therapy, following successful completion of which next year, I will be an accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist.
What can you expect when you come for therapy?
At the heart of my practice is the idea that as human beings we are in relationship. With other people. With different parts of ourselves. With our environment. No matter who we are or where we live. Even if we live largely on our own and are perhaps isolated from other people. We are still in relationship with our memories which can very much affect us in the here and now as we recall them.
I work with my clients to help them understand their own experience, which can lead to insight about why they are as they are, which in turn leads to healing that is long lasting and deeply meaningful for them.
It is through our therapeutic relationship that you will come to understand things that are of most importance to you.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I am also in advanced clinical training with the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP). I am just about to complete the 3rd year of a 4 year training as a Gestalt Psychotherapist. Consequently in July 2017, in addition to my degree in Integrative Counselling I will also be an accredited psychotherapist with the UKCP.
I adhere to the ethical guidelines of both professional bodies.
I charge £40 for an assessment session (which lasts 80 minutes). Ongoing charges can be negotiated at the assessment.
