Dr Katja Osswald
Dr Katja Osswald is a registered Practicing Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (PYL26027).
She has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS with children and adolescents in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, working with a wide range of mental health difficulties. Katja has experience in developmental difficulties, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, having additional qualification in the assessment of ASD. She also has experience working with children, young people and carers in foster care and following adoption. Katja went on to work in a health setting, supporting children and young people with managing chronic health conditions (e.g. Crohn’s) as well as children and teenagers receiving treatment for cancer.
Katja has experience working with adults experiencing anxiety or depression, as well as adjusting to chronic health problems.
In therapy Katja takes a flexible approach, adapting to the needs and circumstances of clients. She is experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and mainly uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, remaining committed to a collaborative approach in therapy. Katja has a long standing interest in Mindfulness, and has worked on adapting mindfulness-based approaches for children and young people.
Katja is able to offer assessment and therapy in German.
