CityDramaLab has been created to nurture talent and will meet every Wednesday, in the heart of York at Millers Yard. At the Lab – brush up, keep your hand in, learn, share and explore new projects, prepare for a role, collaborate and network.

Where better to keep everything in check than the Lab?

If you missed last season you missed some treats, character mask, devising, impro, neutral mask, stage combat and a lot of fun of course.

It’s easier to join us this season with individual classes each week, drop in when you can or make this your routine acting pick me up with quality professional teaching.

11 th Jan Week 1 – Winter Warmer Feeling a little jaded after the festive season? Come to the Lab for your acting warm up, a fun and playful session to get you back in the game.

18 th Jan Week 2 – Playing with a play We will look at the saucy, sizzling The Changling and discover ways to interpret and perform scenes from the play. Don’t know it? You will!

25 th Jan Week 3 – Playing without a play Acting is all about play. A fun and liberating way to be creative and unique in performance.

1 st Feb Week 4 - Playwrights delight All you talented writers, bring your script, be it early or late stages. Hear it performed and get feedback from the group ready for your next draft.

8 th Feb Week 5 – Stand and deliver - audition technique Present yourself in your best light. Anyone with any audition problems or pieces, needing work, bring them along. Not auditioning? This class is useful for interviews too!

15 th Feb Week 6 – Physicalizing text Take the words off the page, give them life and make your performance unique. Bring 8-12 lines of a song or monologue you know. If not there’s always Happy birthday!

22 nd Feb Week 7 - Improvisation How quick is your draw?
