Practitioners & Teachers
I am a chartered counselling psychologist, providing psychotherapy and counselling in York. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore your experiences and feelings.
I work with adults on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling individuals to live their lives more fully. I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, abuse, bereavement, personality disorders and relationship difficulties.
My training and experience as a counselling psychologist has been with psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive-behavioural models. My current practice draws from each of these, with ‘the relationship’ as the integrating factor. This involves understanding relationships in the client’s life, and also the way the client relates within the therapy. I work from a theoretical basis, but value the uniqueness of each client and remain respectful of their particular experiences and feelings. I provide a therapeutic environment with clear boundaries and consistency, allowing my clients to feel safe and contained, therefore encouraging personal growth and psychological well being.
I also offer training and clinical services in Critical Incident Debriefing and Reflective Practice for individuals and organisations through Psychotherapy for Healthcare, http://www.psychotherapyforhealthcare.co.uk.
